Methane is powerful albeit short-lived greenhouse gas and its increase in concentration in the atmosphere contributes significantly to global warming. Its short lifetime in the atmosphere and strong global warming potential makes methane emissions reductions a preferred instrument to reach mid-term climate targets for policymakers and regulators.
