Water (H2O)
Water (H2O)
How can we help you?
Water is one of the most important compounds on this planet. Its role in our Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Cryosphere, Biosphere and Lithosphere cannot be overstated. Many complex organisms rely on it to survive and its availability will shape the social, political and economic landscapes of the future.
The stable isotopes of oxygen (δ18O) and hydrogen (δD) are powerful tracers of the origin and evolution of liquid, solid and vapor phase water. They are used by scientists and researchers in medicine, food adulteration, hydrology, ocean science, paleoclimatology, forensics and many others. Water vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas, that despite its non-anthropogenic origins, plans an important role in the evolution of past, present and future climate.
Measurements of water vapor and the isotopic composition of water in one of its many forms remains one the strongest and most important research fields in science. Picarro is proud to support many of these applications with some of the best-in-class and state of the art systems.
