Guaranteeing Subpart-O EtO SWEL1 and SWEL2 Compliance1 with LESNI EO CAPs and Picarro CEMS

In this follow-up white paper, Picarro and LESNI demonstrate that LESNI's EO Catalytic Abatement Plants (CAPs), combined with Picarro’s Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), significantly exceed the 2024 Subpart-O NESHAP ethylene oxide (EtO) destruction removal efficiency (DRE) requirements. Drawing from real-world data at U.S. commercial sterilizer sites, the paper confirms that both SWEL1 and SWEL2 compliance pathways can be comfortably achieved—with DREs reaching up to 99.99948% and average stack EtO levels below 2 ppb. It also highlights the risk of overestimated emissions from OE-FTIR systems, reinforcing the reliability of Picarro’s CEMS and providing customers with confidence in ongoing compliance and performance.
